Clos de Tafall 2015, Spain

This wine is blend of Garnacha, Carignan & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Priorat is a small region in Spain not far from Barcelona. At a glance, the region seems to be inhospitable, but when grapes are challenged, the yields are low and the fruit is concentrated. The end result is exquisite. The red grapes of this area are almost always blended. Garnacha is the star of the show, but can also include Carignan, Cab and Syrah.

In the winter, I’m looking for a wine to either go with a rich braised beef, or my electric blanket and a good movie. This wine from Clos Berenguer fills those needs (& my glass). It is a rich aromatic blend with flavors of dark chocolate, ripe red berry, licorice, and cola. The velvety tannins are thanks to the 12 months it spent in French oak.

If your winter is about comfort foods, then this is your comfort wine!
