Biermanufaktur Loncium Gingerbread Man, Austria

Loncium is in Kötschach-Mauthen, a picturesque village located near the Italian border in Austria. Many of the raw ingredients for their brews are hyper local – from the village itself in fact. There must be something in the water, because these ingredients have produced award winning beers since 2007. They excel at producing robust dark ales that are perfect accompaniments to cold winter nights in Austria – which means they’re also perfect for cold winter nights in Canada!

Like it’s namesake, this ale is delicately spiced with ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon – producing an entrancing aroma of freshly baked dark gingerbread cookies. It’s smooth and satisfying on the palate and will pair well with baked deserts, cave aged gruyere, dark dried fruit as well as a cozy fire and a leather-bound book!
