Caves Blancher Reserva Brut Cava

Summer has arrived and things are looking promising for having a more normal summer, and that is definitely cause for opening some celebratory bubbles! Look no further than the newest addition to our Cava selection, the Caves Blancher Reserva Brut.

Founded in 1955, Caves Blancher is now run by the third generation of the family, in the heart of Cava production, the Penedes region of Northeastern Spain. To maintain quality, Caves Blancher controls the viticulture for all the grapes they use in their Cava production, with 90% of the fruit coming from their own vineyards. While they use modern equipment and production techniques, they also make their sparkling wines very much in a traditional manner, and still riddle the bottles by hand to prepare for disgorgement of the sediment.

The Blancher Reserva Brut Cava is a cuvee made from the typical Cava varietals of Macabeo, Xarel-lo and Parellada, that is aged on the lees for a period of over two years. It’s made especially for the export market with the aim of providing a wine of great freshness on the palate with a touch of sweetness (dosage of 8g/L), that is easy drinking and able to pair well with a variety of dishes.

It pours in the glass a light golden colour with fine and persistent bubbles, and displays aromas of yellow apples, lemon, baked bread, and a touch of beeswax. On the palate it shows much of the same fruit character with slight notes of honey and almond, and zippy acidity. An easy-to-drink cava, ideal as an aperitif but great with shellfish or white sauce pasta dishes.
