Riedlen Rose 2014

Baden, Germany

I’m super excited that we were able to get or hands on some of this super limited, super delicious rosé from Baden, Germany. This mouthwatering rosé is made from 100% Spätburgunder...aka Pinot Noir! It’s fresh and bright with notes of watermelon Jolly Rancher and fresh picked field strawberries, highlighted by a touch of sweet basil and steely minerality.

In 2014 only 167 cases of this organic, Erste Lage (Grand Cru) wine from 45+ year old vines were produced and we were lucky enough to get 84 bottles here in Calgary. And we're passing our good fortune onto you!

Germany is the third largest producer of Pinot Noir with just over 11% of vineyards devoted to the grape. Sometimes referred to as the "heartbreak grape", Pinot Noir is extremely difficult to grow due it's thin skins, susceptibility to viticulture hazards and tendency to mutate into Pinot Gris or Pinot Blanc.
