2018 A Sunday in August Pinot Noir

Naramata, British Columbia

Natural wine feeling fine!

This particular offering from A Sunday in August is a Bricks Wine Co. exclusive!!!

A Sunday in August is a passion project through and through. Michael Shindler and his fiancée Sam Milbrath make small-batch, minimal intervention wines, using only organically farmed grapes.

“Before this, I played in a band & I still do. I think making wine & making music are quite similar. They’re both very subjective, people either like it or they don’t. Both are kind of creative and emotionally crazy as well.” – Michael Shindler

Michael participated in Top Drop Calgary back at the end of May and when he was asked why he decided to call his project “A Sunday in August” he simply responded “because who doesn’t love a Sunday in August?!”

The 2018 Pinot Noir is made using fruit from the Hayman Road Vineyard on the Naramata Bench in British Columbia. The grapes are destemmed, and fermented with ambient yeasts as whole berries, spending 3 weeks on their skins before being racked off and raised in neutral oak barrels for a short time before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.

This juicy wine is fresh and pretty with notes of juicy red cherries and ripe raspberries with a touch of cola and candied blood orange. This gem is delicious when served chilled (or straight up cold from the fridge). Pair it with a simple cheese and charcuterie board or anything that comes off your BBQ this summer!
